
Staff Accountant

Banyan Search is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client’s accounting team in Winston-Salem. This role is centered on general accounting, the monthly close process and financial reporting. It is an excellent opportunity for an early-to-mid-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in core accounting functions within a dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the monthly close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations; ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports and schedules; analyze financial data for completeness and accuracy
Support compliance activities such as sales/use tax filings, 1099 preparation, and audit requests
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, cash application, and vendor/customer support as needed
Document accounting procedures, support internal controls, and identify process improvement opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
1–3 years of progressive accounting experience; strong internship experience considered
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities
Experience with accounting/ERP systems required
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
