As a Produce Clerk at Lee’s Marketplace, you play a vital role in creating an inviting and fresh shopping experience for our guests. You will be responsible for the stocking, rotation, and merchandising of fruits and vegetables while maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. Your friendly, helpful attitude helps ensure that each guest receives exceptional service and guidance in the produce department.
Responsibilities
Stock, rotate, and maintain fresh produce displays, ensuring quality, freshness, and appearance.
Monitor product levels and replenish as needed throughout the day.
Inspect produce for signs of spoilage, damage, or quality concerns, removing unsellable items promptly.
Set up and break down produce displays and promotional signage.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary department, including coolers, prep areas, and display cases.
Assist guests by answering questions, offering product suggestions, and locating items.
Prepare value-added items such as cut fruit or packaged produce items when needed.
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as outlined in company training.
Assist in receiving and unloading deliveries, checking for accuracy and quality.
Support team members and leadership in achieving department goals and standards.
Guest Service
Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
Promote and exemplify a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.
Provide excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and taking their orders accurately. Prepare and process the guest’s orders promptly and finalizes their purchase in a friendly manner.
Display excellent problem-solving skills and strive for resolutions that align with the Lee’s Way — doing what’s best for guests, the team, and the company.
Be familiar with, and assist customers with, use of Lee’s Marketplace website.
Product Handling
Stock shelves and maintain displays according to store standards.
Ensure product freshness by monitoring receiving, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
Unload deliveries and organize stock rooms; check all incoming items for quality and expiration dates.
Ensure perishable items are stored at the correct temperature to prevent spoilage.
Use the first-in, first-out (FIFO) system to reduce waste.
Follow recipes and processes to maintain product consistency and quality.
Ensure produce production goods are packaged appropriately to maintain freshness and comply with food safety regulations.
Ensure items are labeled with pricing, ingredients, allergen information, and expiration dates.
Contribute to the display of produce goods and rotate products regularly for freshness and appeal.
Minimize product waste by tracking production and adjusting production amounts with leadership direction.
Dispose of waste properly or recycle according to store policies.
Cleanliness and Safety
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow safety and sanitation procedures and ensure products are stored at proper temperatures.
Practice regular hand washing, use of gloves, and proper sanitation of equipment.
Label and handle products containing common allergens to avoid cross-contamination.
Report safety hazards or equipment issues to leadership.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations and use PPE when necessary.
Contribute to cleaning responsibilities in the department.
Team Collaboration
Work cooperatively with team members to achieve store goals.
Encourage all team members to reach the highest level of teamwork and guest service; promote the Lee’s Marketplace Mission and Core Values.
Assist other departments as needed.
Work in a fast-paced environment with tact and patience.
Keep products from expiring by coordinating with the team to optimize shelf life.
Attend departmental, store, and company meetings as required and adhere to policies and procedures.

Position Requirements
Age Requirement: 16yrs+
Availability: Flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays according to the needs of the store
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment.
Repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance.
Occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
Prolonged periods standing and walking.
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly.
Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.
