Overview
Construction Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager for a long-term contract opportunity based in Houston, TX. This role will lead all on-site construction activities, providing both administrative and technical oversight of field personnel, subcontractors, and project execution. Projects will vary in size, scope, and location, requiring a strong leader with the ability to manage complex construction environments.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day on-site leadership for all construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Oversee and coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, and discipline superintendents
Manage project execution including safety, quality, materials, subcontractors, and client relations
Ensure compliance with all Safety & Health Plans, including regular audits of Pre-Task Analysis (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs)
Direct construction efforts to align with engineering design, project budget, and schedule requirements
Enforce project procedures, safety standards, and client requirements; document and address any violations
Coordinate closely with engineering, scheduling, cost control, and procurement teams
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
Interface with client representatives, municipal authorities, and other contractors
Support development and implementation of project execution plans and site procedures
Review and approve subcontractor progress payments and supplier invoices (with Project Manager oversight)
Provide technical guidance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods
Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
Monitor project progress using scheduling tools, forecasting methods, and tracking systems
Lead construction turnover and coordinate with startup and commissioning teams
Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems and project standards
Read and interpret civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings and specifications
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 11 years of construction management or craft supervision experience on similar projects
Strong understanding of multiple construction disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation)
Proven leadership and supervisory experience in field construction environments
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
