This position will support the credit recovery program.

Schedule

Hours: 7:45 -12:45. Teaching June 10-July 21. Monday through Thursday only. First semester 6/10-6/30. Second semester 7/1-7/21.

Job Type Description

Vacancies exist for high school summer school teachers for the High School Summer School Program. Teachers are needed in Physical Education (applicant must be experienced in teaching the skills and concepts required for the physical education curriculum). The number of positions and availability is contingent upon student enrollment.

Specialized Skills

West Virginia teacher certification in physical education and health, K-12. Applicant must be experienced in teaching the skills and concepts required for the physical education curriculum.

Additional Job Information

Teachers will be employed based upon appropriate WV certification and summer school seniority. Teachers must be available to teach the entire session. Requests for vacation will not be approved and summer school absences are included when determining the sick leave incentive. The availability of these positions are subject to acceptable student enrollment numbers to be able to offer the courses.

POSITION: Summer School Teacher

LOCATION: Assigned School As Per Posting

DIVISION: Instruction

RESPONSIBILITY: Enables each student to pursue his/her education smoothly and completely as possible while adhering to all state and county policies and standards.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Summer School Principal

I. A teacher implements his/her program of study by:

a. Establishing appropriate goals and objectives

c. Making effective use of manuals and instructional guides

d. Demonstrating and communicating knowledge of subject matter

II. A teacher fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning by:

a. Motivating intellectual curiosity in students

b. Providing a variety of teaching methods and materials

c. Arranging the classroom neatly and appropriately

d. Providing for participation by students

e. Appearing as an appropriate model for students

f. Adhering to health, safety, and hygiene standards

III. A teacher utilizes instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximizes times on task by:

a. Planning lessons which incorporate major components of lesson design

a. Providing a variety of evaluation techniques

b. Keeping accurate records of student progress and attendance

ADDENDUM –

a. Teachers will be required to submit weekly lesson plans

b. Teachers’ work day will be from 7:15 a.m. –2:15 p.m.

c. Teachers will be required to provide supervision

d. Teachers will be required to be available for six weeks of summer school
