Role

The Seasonal Aquatic Maintenance Technician is responsible for the modification, repair, and refurbishment of attractions and equipment located within waterpark or aquatics facilities. This position completes preventative maintenance, tests attractions, adjusts controls, diagnoses issues, ensures water quality, and repairs system malfunctions as they occur. This role plays an integral part in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of water park rides and attractions, which strengthens guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities

Conduct daily pre-opening inspections of waterslides and pools to ensure safety and optimal performance.
Respond to trouble calls, diagnose, and correct mechanical issues.
Maintain the property in a clean, presentable, and safe condition.
Perform repairs and service according to manufacturers’ requirements and specifications.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as painting, battery replacement, smoke detector checks, HVAC cleaning, door/lock repair, plumbing, drywall repair, basic carpentry, electrical repairs, and related issues as they arise.
Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous operations.
Utilize the proper PPE appropriate to the job.
Maintain storage areas, shops, and mechanical areas in a clean, safe, organized, and secure manner.
Complete repair work orders in a timely manner and keep leadership informed of current issues.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Education and Experience

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
2+ years of maintenance or mechanical experience is highly desired.
1-2 years of experience at a waterpark, swimming pool, or other aquatics-related facility is preferred.
Working knowledge of water chemistry, pumps, and motors is highly desired.
Language

Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, open to close.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
General practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and carpentry related to pumps and motors is a plus.
Ability to read and understand ride maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with fiberglass and other water slide structures is a plus.
Familiarity with state and local codes as they relate to aquatics attractions.
Provide own tools including screwdrivers, hammers, pry bars, punches, wrenches, standard socket set up to 1 inch, and metric socket set up to 24 mm.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods.
Ability to remain on feet for most of the workday.
Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 75 pounds or more.
Ability to work in all non-conventional areas, including confined spaces or above ground level, on scaffolds, ladders, and manlifts.
Ability to grasp and manipulate objects and tools with hands.
Ability to see color differences and details at various distances.
Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to water and pool cleaning chemicals.
Frequent exposure to variable outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, vibrations, motorized equipment, and exposure to chemicals and greases.
Subject to exposure to bloodborne pathogens; proper PPE is required in these situations.
Subject to working at heights greater than 100 feet.
