Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Workers' Compensation Attorney to join our Southern California team. Our firm represents a diverse roster of insurance companies, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, municipalities, and school districts across the state. This role offers the best of both worlds: the robust resources of a large firm combined with the personalized attention of a boutique practice. You will be responsible for navigating the full lifecycle of workers' compensation defense, with a particular focus on efficient resolution and the proactive identification of fraudulent claims.
Key Responsibilities
Case Advocacy: Represent clients in hearings and depositions before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
Strategic Counsel: Provide sound legal advice and deliver cost-effective solutions tailored to specific client goals and guidelines.
Negotiation: Leverage strong negotiation skills to resolve cases efficiently through settlements and structured agreements.
Legal Craftsmanship: Perform in-depth legal research and draft precise legal documents, pleadings, and status reports.
Fraud Prevention: Collaborate with the Department of Insurance and district attorneys to combat fraudulent claims and seek justice for clients.
Caseload Management: Maintain an active caseload, ensuring all deadlines are met and clients are kept informed of significant case progress.
Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Bar Admission: Current and active membership in the State Bar of California.
Experience: Proficiency in Workers' Compensation Law and Labor & Employment Law is required. Experience in Defense is preferred but not required.
Skills: Exceptional oral advocacy skills for hearings and depositions.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
