trak group is partnering with a growing Miamisburg-area manufacturer to place a Controller. This is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader ready to take full ownership of the accounting function and serve as a true strategic partner to the CFO—freeing senior leadership to focus on strategy and growth.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead all accounting operations with a focus on accuracy, auditability, and continuous improvement in a lean, high-ownership environment where you will operate at both the strategic and transactional level.
Responsibilities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on accuracy and speed
Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and maintain general ledger integrity
Own all cost accounting functions including standard costing, overhead absorption, variance analysis, and inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
Partner with operations to analyze margins, labor efficiency, and material usage
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and lead the annual audit process
Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
Coordinate with external tax advisors on federal, state, and local compliance
Oversee fixed asset accounting including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
Manage and develop one staff accountant—providing coaching, review, and clear accountability
Drive ERP utilization improvements and implement scalable, audit-ready processes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; 5-12+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant time in a manufacturing environment
Strong expertise in cost accounting—standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
Proven experience leading audits and working directly with external auditors
Experience supporting a transaction, sell-side diligence, QoE process, or PE-backed environment strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls; ERP experience required; manufacturing systems preferred
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically and execute independently
High attention to detail, strong data integrity mindset, and calm under pressure
