
Airframe Design Engineer Senior

Responsibilities
Develop basic data, preliminary design layouts, and detail design for new and revised helicopter fuselage primary and secondary structures.
Participate in the development and presentation of design proposals and support the product lifecycle.
Perform airframe layouts including 2D cross‑sectional design, 3D solid modeling, surfacing, GD&T, engineering drawings, and part specification development.
Design composite laminate structures and define manufacturing and bonded assembly requirements.
Work with cross‑functional teams within Sikorsky Engineering and Technology across multiple sites and suppliers.
Travel occasionally to support suppliers, customer meetings, reviews, aircraft build support, and test activities.
Maintain excellent communication skills to ensure effective teamwork and milestone achievement.
US citizenship is required for this role due to ITAR restrictions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 5 years of professional experience, or 3 years of experience with a related master’s degree.
Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or an equivalent CAD system.
Experience developing technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.
Experience conducting research, creating basic design models and assisting in design evaluations.
Knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
Desired Skills
Design experience of metallic and composite airframe structures.
Proficient drawing and drafting skills.
Expertise in composite airframe structure design using CPD and composite ply development tools.
Proficiency in GD&T and model‑based definition.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
