Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Campus Activities and JSAC provides strategic leadership and oversight for campus activities and the Jaguar Student Activities Center (JSAC). This role supervises the Coordinator for Student Involvement (Campus Activities) and the Coordinator for Student Involvement (JSAC). It involves developing and implementing policies and procedures related to event planning and facility operations, and serving as a key resource for student programs while promoting collaboration to standardize processes across campus.
Responsibilities
Co‑advise the Jaguar Production Crew, elevate programming quality and student leadership, and greenlight major events through readiness standards and learning outcomes.
Facilitate student assistant meetings/trainings and implement a leadership development model; evaluate post‑event outcomes and translate insights into improvements.
Assist in planning major events (e.g., Concert, Homecoming, Pig Out, Mr. & Miss AU) through readiness reviews; analyze proposed budgets/ROI and align with 5‑1‑1 engagement goals.
Standardize SOPs/handbooks for Crew Student Assistants and Student Programming; benchmark programming against NACA best practices and attend the annual NACA conference.
Identify collaboration opportunities across campus and analyze data trends to inform the academic calendar.
Lead JSAC operations by supervising the Coordinator of Student Involvement (JSAC), upholding building standards, and coordinating facility improvements and inventory systems.
Develop student employees and facilitate JSAC Student Manager meetings and retreats; lead building improvement projects with campus partners.
Manage storage and inventory systems, conduct regular audits, and plan lifecycle maintenance/replacements.
Lead Weeks of Welcome planning and cross‑campus coordination; publish the WoW calendar and ensure accurate web presence; align departments to resolve conflicts and evaluate results.
Lead Marketing & Communications alignment for JSAC and Crew initiatives; ensure brand consistency, develop channel strategies, and evaluate post‑campaign performance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, student affairs, event management, or a related field; at least three years of experience in building/facility management, student activities, or general programming.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field and at least two years of work experience in student engagement, event planning, and/or facility management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; experience supervising professional staff.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational abilities.
Strong customer service, organization, and analytical skills; demonstrated relationship, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to advise, teach, and coach university students; ability to collaborate with various departments and student organizations.
Ability to relate well with people, maintain composure under stress, and project confidence and professionalism.
Shift, Salary & Benefits
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (work outside standard hours may be required). Salary: $52,500 annually; Pay band B10; benefits for full‑time employees and eligible part‑time employees.
Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates must pass a background check prior to starting. Depending on duties, a credit check or motor vehicle report may be required. For faculty hires, original transcripts and credential evaluations may be required for foreign degrees. All employees must protect confidential information in accordance with cybersecurity and privacy policies.
