
Membership Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is Alaska's largest, broad-based business organization serving nearly 800 members and their 50,000 employees. The Membership Manager is responsible for expanding membership retention programs and increasing the bottom line of the Anchorage Chamber through strengthening relationships, membership growth, customer satisfaction, and collecting investment dues.
BASIC SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
You are a self-starter who works in collaborative team environments of both staff and volunteers. Professionalism, flexibility, and exceptional relationship‑building skills are key. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and listen for deep understanding. Sales experience with intangible products in the B2B space or membership organizations is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace; familiar with general software programs and office equipment. Ability to learn and master new cloud-based CRM. Reports directly to the President & CEO.
JOB DUTIES:
Initiate sales calls and follow‑up on prospective member leads
Manage membership programs, including annual strategic member retention plan, implement and evaluate it in coordination with other staff and volunteers, as appropriate
Track methods, research and identify creative and innovative ways to increase benefits, recognize members, and evaluate satisfaction and successful renewals
Outreach to existing, new and lapsed members to involve them in events and activities
Create and implement short‑ and long‑range marketing plans and CRM campaigns
Report on membership & retention updates to the President/CEO, contributing to the monthly report to the Board of Directors
Coordinate and execute membership events, such as member orientations, Business After Hours, and ribbon cutting with staff and Ambassador Council
Educate members on utilization of Member Center tools and address questions, comments, and concerns in a timely manner
Identify new sponsorship opportunities, including new sources of non‑dues revenue
Manage and maintain membership database through ChamberMaster
SUPPORT:
Maintain awareness and understanding of all Anchorage Chamber events and programs
May serve as Anchorage Chamber representative on community boards and committees
Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly board meetings
Collaborate with the team to create the overall annual strategic plan
Contribute to content creation for digital platforms
Aid in cross‑training and support of staff on membership tools, when appropriate
Streamline and modernize billing and collection of renewals
Contribute in maintaining office and other common areas in a neat and orderly fashion
Other duties as assigned

PAY RANGE:
Pay range $56K-$63K annually DOE, Exempt Salaried Position
