Summary : As an Examiner Nurse Practitioner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans seeking disability compensation related to in‑service injuries. Tasks include reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and providing medical opinions based on the completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Your work directly enhances the veteran experience and can influence access to subsequent care.
Pay : Base + Monthly Incentive = $147,784 – $177,784 annually.
Job Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations of Veterans, including medical history review, physical examination, and assessment of functional impact.
Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation.
Render objective, evidence‑based medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on work and daily activities.
Manage case‑management workflow, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information.
Document examination findings in concise reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations.
Coordinate with Loyal Source departments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Manage scheduling and availability for all C&P exams, ensuring compliance with 10% travel requirements to partner clinics.
Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and VA training requirements.
Keep current on VA Medical Disability Evaluation program requirements.
Safeguard confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and VA protocols.
Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited professional nursing school and hold an active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license valid in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories.
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred experience in medical disability examinations or a related field.
Basic Life Support certification (renewed regularly).
Familiarity with military or veteran communities a plus.
Completion of training in medical disability evaluations or occupational health is advantageous.
Proficient in conducting comprehensive assessments, interpreting diagnostics, and formulating evidence‑based opinions.
Empathetic, patient‑centered approach to evaluation.
Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, communication, and ethical standards.
Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple initiatives quickly.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Authorized to work in the U.S. and meet federal contractor requirements.
Reasoning and Technological Ability

Applicants must apply common sense and detailed instructions to solve problems involving a few variables. Technical proficiency includes MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records systems, and familiarity with Teams and learning management systems.
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk; use of a computer.
Lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Full range of motion, including ability to see, hear, smell, bend, and stretch.
Approximately 10% travel to partner clinics; additional travel for training or company events.
Standard schedule Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm; holidays and clinic closures apply.
