Overview
Client Job Description

As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required for this position. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran. By providing an exceptional experience during these examinations we aim to positively impact each Veteran.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations: Perform thorough and focused medical evaluations of Veterans, including reviewing medical history, conducting physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. Ten percent travel is required to include other LSGS Clinics.

Review and Analyze Medical Records: Assess medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran's medical history and health condition.

Render Objective Medical Opinions: Based on examination findings, diagnostic results, and medical record review, provide unbiased and evidence-based medical opinions regarding the extent of health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities.

Case Management and Collaboration: Understand and work in the case management system, organize workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals as needed.

Document Examination Findings: Accurately record examination findings in medical opinions and relevant recommendations in clear and concise reports following established VA guidelines and formats.

Team Collaboration: Partner with Loyal Source departments to gain support and use resources to complete tasks and meet deadlines.

Scheduling and Availability: Manage time effectively and ensure appropriate submission and confirmation of availability for all C&P exams.

Compliance and Quality: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and quality in the evaluation process.

Quality Assurance: Work with the QA team to submit thorough and accurate examination findings. Maintain compliance with VA training requirements and VA MDE program requirements.

Confidentiality and Security: Safeguard the confidentiality of all patient information per privacy and security protocols. All employees with access to patient data must understand HIPAA requirements and pass an annual assessment.

Qualifications

Education and Licensing: Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. A valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and not barred from practicing in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a territory.

Experience: At least 1 year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.

Medical Disability Examinations: Previous experience in conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred.

Basic Life Support: BLS certification required, including renewals.

Military Experience: Previous military experience or familiarity with the military or veteran communities preferred.

Specialized Training: Training in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.

Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based medical opinions.

Interpersonal and Communication: Strong communication skills to convey complex medical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Ethics and Professionalism: Commitment to ethical standards, objectivity, and fairness in disability evaluations.

Organization and Independence: Detail-oriented with strong time management; able to work independently and in a team.

Other: Authorized to work in the United States and able to meet federal contractor requirements.

Reasoning and Technology
Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding, follow detailed instructions, and solve problems with a few variables.

Technological Ability:

Proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web-based platforms, and electronic medical records systems. Familiarity with Teams and learning management systems is preferred.

Physical and Travel Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds and perform physical examinations. Travel up to 10% to support other clinics; additional travel for required training or company events may be required.

Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Holidays clinics are closed.
