Overview
At NorthBay Health, the Employee Health Manager has responsibility for operational leadership of Employee Health services. This role oversees the care and management of the employee’s health related to new hire clearances, work injuries, exposures, return-to-work, fitness for duty, organizational requirements and wellness initiatives to support a healthy workforce. It also manages all aspects of the workers’ compensation process and promotes injury prevention. The role collaborates with others to support department policies and procedures related to modified duty, light duty, new hire, return-to-work, and workers’ compensation. It is responsible for annual COE health requirements and annual clinics, and supports operations in activities aligned with the system mission and values and in compliance with workers’ compensation, OSHA regulations, JC, and other system and department policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversees the function for coordination of the new hire medical clearance process, working with Occupational Health to verify completion of physicals, audio and spirometry testing, respirator fit testing, immunizations, drug screening, and pre-hire testing.
Leads the team in support of Employee Health software to support the department’s functions.
Oversees processes for medical clearance and/or return to work for workers.
Oversees the team for case management of employees, including job task analysis review, ergo evaluations, modified work, return-to-work and accommodation processes for modified duty.
Collaborates with leadership to identify opportunities related to exposures, injuries, and return-to-work, coordinating appropriate follow-up as needed.
Coordinates mandatory compliance (COE) testing, including scheduling, clinic staffing, supply orderings, and communications (e.g., influenza vaccination, respirator fit testing).
Leads the Worker’s Compensation process, minimizes costs, oversees case management with the employee, Occupational Health provider, involved specialists, and the WC carrier to facilitate early return to work.
Develops and maintains relationships with the WC carrier and service providers to optimize benefits.
Promotes health services that meet medical standards, OSHA regulations, and organizational policies.
Supports accident/injury investigations with documentation and follow-up as required.
Ensures health services meet established medical standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
Monitors compliance with corporate mandated requirements and notifies management and HR on compliance status.
Supports the organization and leads Employee Health initiatives and performance improvement activities.
Manages special projects and interdisciplinary committees as assigned.
Participates in organizational committees representing Employee Health, wellness, and workers’ compensation interests.
Performs audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Licensure/Certification:
None required, RN license preferred.
Experience:
Three years of progressive leadership experience; three years of Employee or Occupational Health experience; knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations and claims; strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance processes (OSHA).
Skills:
Strong client advocacy and negotiation, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, intermediate word processing; able to exercise sound independent judgment and decision-making; strong written and oral communication; ability to organize wellness clinics and other initiatives; computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Employee Health software and EMR preferred.
Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrates True North values and ability to build constructive relationships with carriers, service providers, system leadership, and staff.
Compensation:
$160- to $205 per hour based on experience; bonus eligible.
Hours:
Management Exempt; variable, primarily 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday.
