Surgery - General Physician

Coverage: May 1, 2026 - Ongoing NeedShift: 24-hour coverage (6:00 AM - 6:00 AM)Minimum Availability: 2-3 days per assignmentReason for Coverage: Vacancy due to long-term permanent search

• Combination of inpatient, outpatient, and clinic responsibilities
• Mix of surgical cases and endoscopic procedures
• Some overlap with employed surgeons for shared coverage
• Opportunity for ongoing, consistent locums work
• IMLC accepted

• 24-hour shifts (6:00 AM - 6:00 AM)
• Night call begins at 6:00 PM
• Includes clinic days for post-operative follow-ups
• 30-minute call response time required

Setting: Inpatient, Outpatient, and Clinic

Patient Population: Adult

Patient Volume (per surgeon):

• 30-40 scopes per month
• 15-25 surgeries per month

Responsibilities Include:

• Providing general surgery coverage including call
• Performing inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
• Managing post-operative patients in clinic
• Handling assigned and unassigned patients
• Coordinating care across surgical and hospital teams
• Responding to consults and admissions

• General surgery procedures
• Endoscopic procedures (scopes)
• Post-operative care and follow-up

• Hospital Stroke Certified
• Trauma Level IV

Technology:

• EMR: Cerner

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery - required
• Active Arkansas license - required
• IMLC accepted
• ACLS, BLS - required
• Fellowship - preferred
