Job Description
The Forklift Operator/Machine Operator (Production Area) supports the safe, efficient, and productive setup, maintenance, and operations of machinery and forklifts. Responsibilities include general maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, sample retrieval, power washing, lifting and hauling items up and down stairs, dump rework, preparing packaging, and packaging product as required or assigned by supervisor.

Schedule
Monday – Friday (2:00pm – 10:30pm) with some weekend work and overtime.

Forklift Operations

Must be trained and certified on the forklift.

Trained and able to demonstrate hazardous chemical handling.

Proficient in the operation of stretch wrappers.

Proficient with a forklift on all operation lines.

Load trucks in the prescribed manner.

Demonstrate ability to complete and make changes to pick sheets.

Communicate with visitors and customers in a professional manner.

Basic operational knowledge of roll‑up doors.

Understand the inventory procedure.

Trained and able to demonstrate pallet transfer operations.

Demonstrate ability to reconcile finished product.

Machine Operations

Inspect machines to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.

Set up manufacturing equipment.

Keep lines stocked with packaging materials.

Fill out appropriate paperwork related to line CCPs, production, and packaging materials.

Basic troubleshooting and repair of packaging equipment.

Knowledge of basic operation of equipment on the line.

Communicate with supervisor when line is down due to equipment or product supply.

Communicate with supervisor and leads when equipment needs attention.

Report/resolve any observed quality issues while operating line.

Proper start‑up, running, and shut‑down of line.

Proper teardown, cleaning, and reassembly of pumps, sanitary lines, and line equipment.

Knowledge of chemical handling procedures including required PPE.

Knowledge of process flow and ability to trace flow from source tank to filling process.

Basic understanding of pumps, valves, and how to change filters.

Qualifications
Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Related Experience:

Previous relevant experience – preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Equipment/Software Skills:

Proficient knowledge in operating forklift and machine in a manufacturing environment; basic computer knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
