Description of Work
In this position you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality. You will operate a fish‑stocking vehicle safely and promptly, load and transport fish, monitor fish health, and take appropriate action to deliver fish in excellent condition. You may also perform repairs and maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Seasonal, full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.
7‑month seasonal assignment with opportunity for advancement to a full‑time position.
No medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non‑overtime) hours in each calendar year.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break.
Weekend, evening, holiday, and standby work may be required.
Telework is not available.
Salary is non‑negotiable in some cases.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training.
Special Requirements
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
Commercial Driver’s License permitting operation of vehicles of 26,000 lb. or more must be obtained before completing the probationary period.
Other Requirements
Must meet the PA residency requirement.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
Conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Submission of satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance) is required.
