Description of Work
In this position, you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury and mortality. You will learn how to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition. Additionally, this role performs repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Seasonal, full‑time employment
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
This position may require weekend, evening, and holiday work as well as standby time
This position does not receive medical benefits; paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non‑overtime) hours in each calendar year
Telework: not available in this position
Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent formal training
Special Requirements
Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
Commercial Driver’s License to operate vehicles 26,000 lbs. or more prior to completing the probationary period
Other Requirements
Meet Pennsylvania residency requirement
Be able to perform essential job functions
Legal Requirements
Conditional offer of employment requires a drug screening
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law
Under the law, a conditional offer will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including:
PA State Police clearance
PA Child Abuse history clearance
FBI Fingerprint clearance
