Position Title:
Pastry Sous Chef
Salary:
$70,000 to $80,000
Job Summary:
The Pastry Sous Chef works alongside the management team to lead and oversee the hourly pastry team through daily high‑volume production. The role requires a hands‑on approach, actively participating in production while managing administrative responsibilities and people‑management tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Pastry Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
Assist the Executive Pastry Chef with planning and creating menus.
Produce and execute catering events.
Lead the pastry team.
Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
A.S. or equivalent experience.
Leadership skills.
Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
Catering experience a plus.
High‑volume pastry production and complex foodservice operations experience – highly desirable.
Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful.
Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the internet.
Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities.
ServSafe certification – highly desirable.
