Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery - Part Time Days

POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse oversees necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensures alignment with the medical treatment plan. The patient care process includes assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment – identify, gather and organize subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural factors.

Planning – identify actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) to result in a documented plan of care for the patient/family/significant other and interdisciplinary team.

Intervention – implement specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.

Evaluation – determine the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care and identify whether reassessment or revisions to problems, goals, plan of care or interventions are needed; document required actions.

Support patient care by prioritizing problems across biophysical, psychological, environmental, self-care, educational and social domains; set goals and provide education aligned with identified problems and goals to promote patient empowerment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey or current multi-state license required. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver's License required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs. Nurses hired without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years.

Experience:

Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; onboarding and training will be provided with progress toward required competency within 30–60 days.

Specialty/Certification (where applicable):

ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer; ATCN or TNCC within 24 months; PALS or ENPC within specified timelines; CPI compliance by designated dates for current staff or new hires; various department-specific certifications as outlined by position (CCRN, CGRN, CNOR, ONS, etc.) as applicable to the role and unit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential exposure to hazards and risk in the hospital environment, including blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases, hazardous substances and potential injury. May require color discrimination in some departments. Essential functions are listed on the department-specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Physical demands include extensive standing and walking, including stairs; lifting 25–50 pounds frequently and 50–100 pounds with assistance; pushing and pulling heavy equipment.

Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.

UNIT AREAS AND POPULATIONS SERVED
Core competencies are assessed primarily on the patient populations serviced, which may include Bariatric, Cardiac/vascular, Critical Care, Behavioral Health, Endoscopy, Emergency Department, Telemetry, Wound Care, Structural Heart, Obstetrics (Labor and Delivery), Neonatal Care, Pediatrics, and other specialty units as applicable to the facility.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
