Education Grants Manager

Overview
The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) is seeking an Education Grants Manager to join our collaborative and mission‑driven Fiscal team. In this role, you'll play an integral part in supporting financial operations that help advance education across North Dakota.

Key Responsibilities

Provide interpretation and technical assistance to local education agencies and staff on federal and state laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to grants.

Establish procedures and controls to ensure fiscal policy and grant requirements are met.

Develop and monitor office budgets, grant proposal budgets, and fund projections for education programs; determine allocations to local education agencies; authorize expenditure of funds.

Assist with the development of the NDDPI budget and special projects as assigned.

Develop guidelines and procedures for fiscal reporting; monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved program plans, budgets, and department policies; resolve discrepancies; prepare periodic financial reports.

Qualifications

Knowledge of federal and state grant laws, regulations, and fiscal requirements, with the ability to provide clear guidance and technical assistance to local education agencies and staff.

Experience developing and managing budgets, fund projections, and grant allocations, while authorizing expenditures and ensuring responsible use of funds.

Strong ability to establish procedures, internal controls, and fiscal reporting processes that ensure compliance with grant requirements and department policies.

Proven skill in monitoring expenditures, resolving discrepancies, and preparing financial reports to support accurate program and budget oversight.

Ability to contribute to agency budget development, special projects, and cross‑functional collaboration, while communicating complex fiscal information in a practical and accessible way.

Compensation & Location
Hiring Range: $5,500–$6,100/month, depending on experience. Location: Onsite at the State Capitol in Bismarck, ND. This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, public administration, or a related field and three years of work experience that includes budgeting, accounting, and/or grants management.

An associate degree in accounting, business, public administration, or a related field and five years of work experience that includes budgeting, accounting, and/or grants management.
