Job Overview
The Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Tech) is responsible for assisting in interventional radiology procedures in a high-acuity hospital environment. This role involves supporting physicians during procedures, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety while delivering high-quality diagnostic and interventional care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Procedures
Assist in interventional radiology procedures
Prepare and position patients for procedures
Support radiologists during fluoroscopic and IR procedures
Equipment & Imaging
Operate X-ray, CR, and DR systems
Ensure high-quality imaging for diagnostic and procedural accuracy
Troubleshoot and report equipment issues
Patient Care & Safety
Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures
Follow infection control and safety protocols
Maintain awareness of patient rights and care standards
Team Collaboration
Work closely with radiologists, nurses, and IR team
Support workflow and assist team members
Demonstrate professionalism and accountability
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate patient records
Ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
Follow EMR documentation protocols
Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years of Radiology / IR experience
Neurosurgery / Neuroscience experience (Required)
Active New York State License (Required)
BLS Certification (AHA – Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Interventional Radiology experience (Preferred)
Experience in high-acuity hospital environments
Experience in procedural imaging settings
