CAD Drafter Intern

Description
Leidos is seeking a CAD Drafter Intern for the Walled Lake, MI office as part of its Industrial Transformation division. The internship involves working under the mentorship of a seasoned CAD Drafter in a fast‑paced environment, performing drafting and detailing functions with AutoCAD software focused on electrical control system drafting. The role offers flexible work arrangements and can accommodate students’ schedules.
Responsibilities
Work closely with design engineers and designers to complete drafting and detailing tasks at a high level of quality, efficiency, and productivity for automation projects.
Produce Industrial Control Panel drawings, including electrical ladder diagrams, schematics, SCADA and communication drawings, control panel front and internal views and layouts, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, and other drawings required by project scope.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree with at least one year of relevant drafting and detailing experience using AutoCAD.
Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer‑provided markups with a high level of attention to detail.
Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with file sharing, document management, and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint.
Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
Highly organized and efficient.
Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
Ability to perform tasks in a fast‑paced engineering/production environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $35,750.00 – $64,625.00. Benefits include health and wellness programs, paid leave, retirement, and income protection.
