Accountant Technician

The Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology is hiring an Accountant Technician with a passion for compiling, analyzing and reporting on the financial performance of the Department.
Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience or training in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, or financial operations or computations. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information:
Job Duties:
Serves as the fiscal officer for the unit. Coordinates the preparation of the budgets for state, federal, and industry grants. Monitors expenditures and revenues to prevent departmental overspending. Makes financial projections to ensure appropriate spending levels. Verifies, analyzes and reconciles ledgers on a monthly basis. Prepares journal vouchers to adjust/correct entries. (50%)
Determines appropriate funding sources of expenditures. (15%)
Prepares requisitions for obtaining bids for equipment and supplies. (10%)
Prepares fiscal year end close out and as grant accounts end. (10%)
Learns complex Enterprise Resource Planning system (Workday) for the region's financial and human capital business processing and data needs. (10%)
Serves as backup to others who have related work responsibilities. (5%)
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Location: 302 Life Sciences Building, LSU-BR campus
This position is not eligible for remote employment.
