Job Summary

The University of Utah's Office of the Registrar is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy professional to support the administration, maintenance, and future planning of student systems. This role collaborates across departments to streamline processes and support the successful deployment of technologies, including third-party systems that support registrar operations and Student Information System (SIS).

The Senior Systems & Technology Analyst is responsible for supporting system-delivered enhancements and their configuration; defining technical and functional business requirements; coordinating testing and validation of SIS updates; developing and maintaining queries; and troubleshooting data, processes, and system functionality within the Registrar's Office.

This position assists in advancing departmental, division, and institutional goals and works closely with the Associate Registrar, technical staff, and functional users to determine priorities, timelines, and adoption strategies for new technologies and functionality.

Responsibilities

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description:
Assist in reviewing, submitting, and managing service requests from the Registrar's Office and University departments for modifications and enhancements to the Student Information System (PeopleSoft), related web applications, and the development of new reports. Coordinate with University Support Services (USS) and requestors throughout the lifecycle of each request until completion.
Coordinate user testing with USS for SIS and third-party updates, fixes, and new approaches to improve the user experience.
Assist with testing, documentation, and training related to SIS and third-party systems functionality, updates, and enhancements.
Collaborate with functional and technical teams to test, implement, and deploy SIS and third-party system enhancements.
Design, modify, and maintain queries and automated processes to support registrar and institutional needs.
Perform query-based updates (QBUs) to student records in the SIS to support departmental and institutional functions.
Provide technical and functional support for student data and Registrar systems, including diagnosing issues, troubleshooting system errors, and resolving data discrepancies efficiently.
Respond to internal and external data requests, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with university policies and FERPA regulations.
Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to provide input on requirements, timelines, and business processes.
Maintain current knowledge of best practices in higher education systems and technology.
Work closely with the Associate Registrar for Student Systems and the Manager of Student Systems to support ongoing projects and strategic initiatives.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission and operations of the Office of the Registrar.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Understanding of academic structures (terms, programs, plans, course catalogs)
Experience coordinating with IT teams on system enhancements, access, and security
Prior experience in a Registrar's Office or higher education administrative setting
Experience with system testing, documentation, and end-user training
