Payroll Manager
Location: Tigard, OR (Hybrid)
Salary: 100,000 to 110,000, depending on experience
This role leads a team of three and oversees complex, multi-state payroll operations for a national employee population of 1,000+. The Payroll Manager is hands-on, detail-oriented, and responsible for end-to-end payroll execution, tax compliance, reconciliations, and continuous process improvement. The role partners closely with HR, Finance, and leadership and may require increased onsite presence as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and execute multi-state payroll across nearly all 50 states
• Ensure accurate payroll tax compliance, filings, amendments, and reconciliations
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll specialists
• Support commission and bonus payroll, audits, and M&A due diligence
• Troubleshoot exceptions and drive payroll process and policy improvements
Qualifications
• 3+ years of payroll leadership experience in a multi-state environment
• Strong working knowledge of payroll tax and reconciliation practices
• Experience supporting complex payrolls, including commissions or sales compensation
• Strong relationship builder with attention to detail and a process-improvement mindset
