
Assistant Controller

Job purpose
To function as assistant to the Controller and aid with the day to day finance operations and management of accounting records. To work with the Controller and CFO to assure accurate and compliant financial operations.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be engaged in the daily finance operations as assigned and will have a working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration functions in order to serve as a back-up if the related position requires assistance. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with the management of the monthly close and operating statement issuance, as well as, compilation and issuance of the Board financials as determined by CFO.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for Controller and CFO review and any required follow-up or resubmissions.
• Assist the Controller with the FHCHC-selected audit firm with the annual audits; assist in coordination with all Finance department members to assure annual audits are completed timely and assist with preparation of annual reports as necessary.
• Assist with annual preparation of UDS financial schedules.
• Assist with preparation of the supporting schedules for the Form 990.
• Manage the upkeep of asset inventory and depreciation schedules, including monthly entries.
• Perform the monthly Administrative cost allocation to all programs/departments.
• Maintain the monthly Prepaid and Accrued Expense account reconciliations.
• Prepare weekly deposits of front desk cash for deposit by the Controller or CFO.
• Analyze and report on Billing Department monthly write-offs.
• Prepare monthly operating account cash upload file.
• Upload invoices and JVs to support the monthly American Express activity.
• Attend meetings and trainings as requested by the Controller.
• Other projects/responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, an advanced degree is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior level accounting position and Healthcare experience is required.
