CFS is partnering with a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding affordable housing and promoting housing equity across Massachusetts, seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Oversee and approve month‑end and year‑end close processes, including:
- Accounts payable invoice processing
- General ledger journal entries
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Coordinate city and state tax filings
- Maintain thorough documentation for accounting workflows
- Support audit preparation and financial reporting in accordance with nonprofit and public‑sector standards
Required Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior exposure to nonprofit/public‑sector accounting within a mission‑driven environment
- Proficiency in at least one major ERP
- Experience with tax filings, audit processes, and month‑end close cycles
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with affordable housing financing or public‑sector grants and compliance
- Professional services firm exposure is a plus
