Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Assistant

Job Description

The Shipping & Receiving Assistant supports daily warehouse operations by accurately identifying, documenting, and handling inbound and outbound shipments. This role helps maintain inventory accuracy, ensures proper packaging, and contributes to efficient and safe shipping and receiving processes within a climate-controlled warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with the initial verification and identification of incoming and outgoing shipments, including inspection for visible damage.

Process and maintain accurate receiving and shipping documentation for all inbound and outbound materials.

Package materials and prepare shipments in accordance with company procedures and carrier requirements.

Assist with tracking and maintaining adequate levels of shipping and receiving supplies to support daily operations.

Support inventory control activities, including stock material handling and warehouse inventory tasks.

Handle pallets, pull orders, and move stock material as required to fulfill work orders and shipping schedules.

Use basic computer systems and data entry to process shipping and receiving paperwork and update records.

Operate basic warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks and RF scanners, in a safe and efficient manner.

Receive incoming shipments and verify orders, quantities, and documentation before stocking or staging materials.

Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling materials accurately and on time.

Collaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to support efficient material flow and on-time shipments.

Follow established warehouse, shipping, and receiving procedures to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance.

Essential Skills

Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred but not required.

Basic computer skills with the ability to process shipping and receiving paperwork and perform data entry.

Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies or visible damage on shipments.

Ability to lift, move, and package materials as required in a warehouse environment.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as picking, packing, and inventory control.

Effective teamwork skills to work closely with warehouse, production, and logistics teams.

Ability to handle pallets, pull orders, and manage stock material accurately.

Comfort using pallet jacks and other basic warehouse tools and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with inventory control processes, including warehouse inventory and stock management.

Experience with picking, packing, and packaging materials in a warehouse setting.

Knowledge of shipping and receiving workflows for incoming and outgoing orders.

Ability to work with work orders and follow detailed instructions for material handling.

Experience using RF scanners to track inventory and process shipments.

Exposure to SAP or similar warehouse or inventory management systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in a climate-controlled warehouse environment, providing a comfortable setting throughout the year. The role follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with no weekend work expected except for occasional Saturdays during peak periods. Work involves standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials, as well as handling pallets, pulling orders, and stocking materials. You will use equipment such as pallet jacks and RF scanners and may work with systems like SAP for inventory and shipping data. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and team-oriented, with clear procedures for shipping, receiving, and inventory control.

This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.50/hr.
