Human Resources Payroll Administrator (Yonkers)

An established organization is seeking an HR professional with experience in general human resources functions, including payroll, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations. This role supports a workforce of 200+ employees and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

About the Role
Candidates with additional experience in union environments, transportation, DOT compliance, or bilingual Spanish/English skills are strongly preferred, though not required. Experience with ADP or similar HR/payroll systems is also highly valued.

Responsibilities
Screen, recruit, and staff for open positions
Review resumes and assess candidate qualifications for specific job openings
Assist candidates throughout the onboarding process
Enter and maintain employee and applicant data in internal databases
Generate reports and support HR recordkeeping
Support labor and employee relations matters
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Administer benefits and payroll processes
Manage state and federal DOT compliance requirements
Oversee Article 19-A compliance with the NYS DMV

Qualifications
Associate’s degree required, or equivalent relevant work experience
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in human resources and/or payroll supporting a workforce of approximately 200 employees.
Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working with a diverse employee population
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Experience in a compliance-driven and results-oriented setting
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with ADP or similar HR/payroll software

Plus Skills
Experience with 19-A administration, including DMV and DOE requirements, not mandatory
Background in the transportation and/or school bus industry
Exposure to union environments
Bilingual English/Spanish
Experience with payroll systems and/or applicant tracking systems
