Insurance Defense Paralegal
to support its growing Transportation and General Liability practice groups. This is a fully
in‑office

About the Role
The Insurance Defense Paralegal will work closely with attorneys on complex litigation matters involving commercial transportation, trucking accidents, bodily injury claims, and general liability disputes. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing fast‑moving case files from initial intake through trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Litigation Support
Manage litigation files, deadlines, and case calendars.
Assist with drafting and preparing pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
Organize, review, and summarize medical records, accident reports, and investigative materials.
Coordinate document production and maintain case organization throughout all phases of litigation.
Prepare deposition summaries, witness files, and trial notebooks.
Transportation & Insurance Defense Focus
Support attorneys handling trucking, commercial vehicle, and transportation‑related claims.
Review driver logs, maintenance records, accident reconstruction materials, and FMCSA‑related documentation.
Assist with evaluating liability, damages, and claim exposure.
Attorney & Client Support
Communicate with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
Assist with scheduling depositions, IMEs, mediations, and hearings.
Conduct basic legal research as needed.
Qualifications
Required
3+ years of litigation paralegal experience , preferably in insurance defense.
Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures in Ohio state and federal courts.
Experience supporting transportation, trucking, or commercial vehicle cases.
Excellent writing, organization, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred
Paralegal certificate or formal paralegal training.
Experience working directly with insurance carriers and third‑party administrators.
Familiarity with FMCSA regulations and transportation industry documentation.
