Do you want to work in an office where you are appreciated and valued? Butler Snow LLP is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team on-site in our Ridgeland, MS office.
What you would do:
Draft correspondence including pleadings, discovery, motions, orders, and notices.
Schedule and maintain case calendars.
Research complex issues using Westlaw or Lexis Nexis.
Investigate legal matters including fact check, witness interviews and summarization.
Manage document production and trial prep including notebooks, exhibits and case law cite checks.
File pleadings, motions, and through ECF or conventionally in the county courts.
Review and summarize depositions, medical records, and other documents.
Manage, oversee and prepare large document productions (several thousand pages).
Sort, index, categorize, order, manipulate and organize the documents/data including summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses.
Manage logistical details of preparing for a trial which includes details ranging from numbering exhibits to tracking court dates and filing deadlines.
Act as liaison between clients, experts, vendors, opposing counsel and other parties in a litigation or transaction.
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals and other professionals to accomplish firm goals.
Other duties as assigned by Attorneys or Director of Practice Support.
What you bring:
Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience.
Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree from an accredited paralegal program is desired.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience capturing and recording billable time.
High degree of detail and client focus.
Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
Drive and personal initiative.
Trial experience (preferred).
