Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:
AMSC is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Accounting/Finance Intern to join our high‑performing Finance team. In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on experience with real‑world projects that directly impact our financial operations. You’ll support transactional processes in Oracle, assist with account reconciliations, contribute to quarterly close activities, and play a key role in audit preparation and SOX compliance. This is a valuable opportunity to build foundational skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and jumpstart your career in accounting or finance.
Functions:
Enter and manage financial transactions in Oracle, including prepaid expenses, cash activity, and fixed asset records
Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, other assets, and fixed assets
Collaborate on quarter‑end close activities and help ensure timely submission of financial reports
Assist with the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, including gathering audit selections and documentation
Support the team in compiling and reviewing SOX compliance documentation and internal controls
Contribute to the development and improvement of reporting tools, templates, and process documentation
Participate in ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing support and information in a professional and customer‑focused manner
Other accounting tasks as needed
Education – Experience:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Accounting or a related field
Availability to work 15–20 hours per week over the course of 1 year
Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
A collaborative team player who handles confidential information with discretion
Eagerness to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
