Fulton Hogan’s Infrastructure Services National Finance team, based in Richmond, is looking for an
Assistant Accountant
to provide critical support.
This is a great opportunity to join a
tight‑knit, collaborative finance team , working closely with stakeholders across the business and gaining exposure to a broad range of financial activities within a large, complex infrastructure business. The role reports directly to the
Financial Controller

Working as part of a broader finance team, the Assistant Accountant will support day‑to‑day financial operations, month‑end processes, and reporting. This role will suit someone who is naturally inquisitive, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative in a fast‑paced environment.
In this role you will be responsible for
Support month‑end and year‑end reporting, including processing journals, assisting with reconciliations, and preparing profit and loss statements.
Assist the national teams with financial reporting, analysis, and day‑to‑day finance support.
Assist the Financial Controller with reporting on financial performance against agreed KPIs.
Contributing to the preparation of internal reports and supporting information for audits and reviews.
Ensuring day‑to‑day finance activities are performed in line with internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function, including process improvements and documentation.
How you’ll connect to the role?
You will bring tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance and have commenced, or be willing to commence, CA or CPA studies. With at least two years’ experience in an accounting role, you will have advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills and the ability to analyse data with a high attention to detail.
You will be naturally curious, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative, with the interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels across the business.
You will value working in a collaborative team environment, communicate clearly and professionally, manage competing priorities, and look for continuous improvement in systems and processes. Experience in infrastructure or construction and exposure to JDE will be advantageous but are not essential.
To be successful in this role, you will value teamwork and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the business. You will be motivated, self‑driven, and confident in suggesting better ways of working, while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
