Job Description
POSITION:

Pre-K Special Needs Teacher for the Summer ESY Program

EMPLOYMENT TERM:

Summer ESY Program, Monday‑Friday, half‑day sessions (3 hours of instruction). The candidate must be able to work during program operation days.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Program Director/Site Supervisor

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience and education level pursuant to WV Code §18A‑4‑2 and the Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule.

FLSA STATUS:

Exempt.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide appropriate instruction and learning activities that ensure students meet learning objectives and standards for their grade level.

Performance Responsibilities

Plan and implement Jefferson County Schools’ curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.

Develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Policy 2419.

Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.

Implement 21st‑Century technology skills.

Monitor student progress toward instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs.

Plan and implement designated co‑curricular activities and/or programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs and field trips.

Administer approved formative assessments.

Plan and implement tiered instruction for reading and math, where applicable.

Maintain strong communication skills with students, parents, and peers.

Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.

Meet professional responsibilities and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.

Willing to implement any other programs designated by the principal for school improvement, including supervisory duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in specializations and grade levels pursuant to WV Code §18A‑3‑2; criminal background check pursuant to WV Code §18‑5‑15c and/or §18A‑3‑10 as appropriate; meet qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A‑3‑2a. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Physical Demands
The position requires frequent reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, and use of technology such as computers and multimedia equipment. Educing, the employee may frequently lift and or move at least 10 pounds of materials. Must possess close vision to read handwritten or typed material.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily indoors with occasional outdoor recess and field trip activities. Noise level is low to moderate (20‑60 dB), with occasional moderate to loud noise in gymnasiums or vocational/technical laboratories (60‑90 dB).

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
