Employment Term
The Summer ESY program will run Monday‑Friday, half days with three hours of instruction and a half day for staff. Staffing is required on all program days.
Salary
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement Jefferson County Schools’ curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.
Develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Policy 2419.
Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.
Implement 21st Century technology skills.
Monitor student progress toward instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs.
Plan and implement designated co‑curricular activities such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips.
Administer approved formative assessments.
Plan and implement tiered instruction for reading and math where applicable.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers.
Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Meet professional responsibilities and maintain professional work habits.
Adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
Willing to implement any other programs designated by the principal for school improvement and perform supervisory or other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specified specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2.
Current West Virginia certification.
Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18‑5‑15c and/or §18A‑3‑10, as appropriate.
Meet qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A‑3‑2a.
Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Minimum of three supervisory references required.
Physical Demands
Frequent lifting and/or moving of at least 10 pounds, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, and using technology such as computers and multimedia equipment.
Work Environment
Indoors with occasional outdoor settings for recess and field trips. Noise level low to moderate (20‑60 dB) indoors; moderate to loud (60‑90 dB) in gymnasiums or vocational/technical laboratories.

A successful work history and a minimum of three supervisory references are required for consideration. Applicants who have been dismissed or had contracts non‑renewed for cause, or who receive unfavorable reference recommendations, are not eligible.
