Employment Term: The Summer ESY program will be M‑F. Half days: three hours of instruction and half day for staff. Successful applicant must be able to work the days the program is in operation.
Immediate Supervisor: Program Director/Site Supervisor
Salary: Pursuant to WV Code §18A‑4‑2, in accordance with Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Program Days: July 10, 2026 – July 24, 2026
Prep Days: July 10, 2026 and July 24, 2026
*Must possess current West Virginia certification.
Position Summary
Provide appropriate instruction, learning activities, and experiences that ensure students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate content and grade level.
Performance Responsibilities
Plan and implement Jefferson County Schools’ curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives
Develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with policy 2419
Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs
Implement 21st Century technology skills
Monitor student progress toward achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs
Plan and implement co‑curricular activities such as awards programs and field trips
Administer approved formative assessments
Plan and implement tiered instruction for reading and math, where applicable
Maintain strong working/communication skills with students, parents, and peers
Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
Meet professional responsibilities
Adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
Willing to implement additional programs designated by the principal and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A‑3‑2. Criminal background check required. Meet qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A‑3‑2a. Reasonable accommodations may be made. A successful work history and a minimum of three supervisory references are required.
Physical Demands
Frequent reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, writing, talking, hearing, seeing, using technology, and repetitive motions. Frequently lift and/or move at least 10 pounds of materials.
Work Environment
Indoor educational setting with occasional outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. Noise level low to moderate (20–60 dB); gymnasiums and vocational/technical laboratories may be moderate to loud (60–90 dB).
