JOB GOAL:
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for growth in student learning.

Performance Responsibilities
I. Instructional Responsibilities
Establish learning objectives, immediate and long‑range, with written minimum, daily, weekly or unit lesson plans; planning shall provide systematic growth in fundamental knowledge, skills, appreciation and attitudes.
Teach effectively using:
classtime for subject matter as outlined by Board‑approved Program Structure, Curriculum Guides and/or policies;
variety of techniques to stimulate learning;
variety of curriculum materials;
differentiation to meet individual needs;
explanations of assignments;
meaningful homework that reflects learning;
frequent evaluation of pupils’ learning with teacher‑made tests during each grading period.
Make provision for individual differences by effective grouping, procedures or individual instruction, using a variety of materials appropriate to the pupils’ level.
Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Show understanding of child growth and development and respect every child’s individuality.
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
Maintain classroom control, promote self‑discipline, character and respect through positive control techniques in line with state law, board policy and school rules.
Use orderly procedures for routine classroom activities (roll call, materials handling, etc.) and provide effective learning within those routines.
II. Administrative Responsibilities
Follow school rules and Rapides Parish School Board regulations.
Adhere to the duty schedule authorized by the school principal.
Ensure non‑duty personnel report ten minutes before school and remain ten minutes after closing.
Sign in and out on appropriate forms.
Be present in the assigned classroom at the start of each period; the class shall never be left unsupervised.
Remain at school unless permission is obtained.
Attend professional and administrative meetings called by the Principal.
Notify the Principal promptly in case of absence; secure a substitute and provide plans for return.
Follow Rapides Parish School Board staff guidelines.
Maintain a clean and attractive classroom.
Be responsible for care of all textbooks, furniture, equipment and instructional materials assigned to your classroom or laboratory.
Complete records and reports accurately and turn them in on time.
Assume responsibility for field trips:
Obtain Principal permission and parents’ written consent;
Ensure trips have educational value related to current instruction;
Prepare pupils; provide follow‑up upon return;
Confirm vehicle liability insurance and proper licensing of drivers;
Chaperone adequately and supervise pupils;
Ensure all children are picked up before leaving; no child shall be left unattended.
III. Professional Responsibilities
Show enthusiasm, self‑confidence and a positive attitude for student growth.
Maintain good public relations with parents.
Behave ethically with parents, colleagues and students.
Participate in faculty and system‐wide in‑service programs, continuing education, workshops, conferences and professional literature.
Loyalty to the school system and its administration.
Develop and execute a professional growth and self‑evaluation plan per the Rapides Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan.
Implement the NIET rubric Performance Expectations and Indicators for teachers.

Adjust to new situations, demonstrating competence under pressure.
Meet obligations to staff and students on time.
Be present except for personal illness or emergencies defined by board policies.
