PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Responsibilities
To establish learning objectives, immediate and long range, with written lesson plans (daily, weekly or unit) available in the classroom, ensuring systematic growth in knowledge, skills, appreciation, and attitudes.
To teach effectively
Using class time for teaching the designated subject matter as outlined by the Board-approved Program Structure, Curriculum Guides, and/or policies.
Employing a variety of techniques to stimulate learning.
Utilizing a variety of curriculum materials.
Differentiating assignments to meet individual needs.
Explaining assignments clearly.
Limiting homework to what is meaningful to what is being taught.
Evaluating pupil learning frequently to improve instruction, giving teacher‑made tests during each grading period.
To make provision for individual differences by using effective grouping, procedures, or individualized instruction with materials appropriate to each pupil’s level.
To maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
To demonstrate an understanding of child growth & development, showing respect for every child’s individuality.
To exhibit substantial knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
To maintain control, promote self‑discipline, character, and respect for others through positive classroom control techniques per state law, board policy, and school rules.
To use orderly procedures for normal classroom control with simple, consistent routines (roll checks, collections, material handling, pencil sharpening) that ensure effective use of time.
Administrative Responsibilities
To follow the rules and regulations of the assigned school and the Rapides Parish School Board.
To follow a time/duty schedule authorized by the principal for the school day and extracurricular activities.
Non‑duty personnel must report to school ten minutes before opening and remain ten minutes after closing.
To sign in and out of school on appropriate forms.
To be in the assigned classroom or area of responsibility at the beginning of each period.
A class shall not be left unsupervised.
To remain at school during the day unless permission is obtained from the principal.
To attend any administrative or professional meetings called by the principal.
To notify the principal of absence in sufficient time to arrange a substitute and to inform of advance plans to return.
To follow guidelines set forth by the Rapides Parish School Board staff.
To maintain an attractive and clean classroom.
To account for and care for all textbooks, furniture, equipment, and instructional materials in the classroom, laboratory, or other areas.
To complete required records and reports accurately and on time.
To be responsible for field trips, including:
Obtaining permission from the principal.
Getting written consent from parents.
Ensuring the trip has educational value related to current instruction.
Preparing pupils properly and following up after the trip.
Ensuring vehicles have public liability insurance and drivers are licensed.
Ensuring trips are adequately chaperoned and pupils supervised by teacher and chaperones.
Ensuring all children are picked up by parents, guardians, or authorized persons before leaving; no child shall be left unattended.
Professional Responsibilities
To exhibit enthusiasm, self‑confidence, and a positive attitude toward pupil growth.
To maintain good public relations, contributing positively to parents’ understanding of pupils’ progress.
