As a Pastry Cook, you will help make cookies, cakes, breads, and other pastries according to pre-established recipes. Key Responsibilities

Bake pastry items according to pre-established recipes

Decorate pastries in a consistent style

Follow plating and display standards

Follow portion standards

Maintain inventory of prepped ingredients

Properly label and store ingredients

Keep kitchen area and tools clean

Qualifications

Experience:

2 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role in a high-end bakery or restaurant.

Education:

Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.

Skills:

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

Pastry-making experience

Basic math skills

Attention to detail

A flexible schedule

Certifications:

Food handler's permit or similar certification as required by local regulations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work a 12 hour shift, 5 days per week in hot, noisy and sometimes close conditions.

Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed.

Manual dexterity to perform intricate decorating tasks.

Must be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.

Must have color vision and depth perception for food preparation and food presentation.

It is necessary to have ability to communicate within kitchen.

Occasionally required climbing stairs.

Work Environment

This position requires working in a kitchen environment, which may involve exposure to heat, noise, and various kitchen equipment.
