Seasonal Registered Nurse – Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (Job Number: 250004T5)
InterHealth Staffing, a for‑profit staffing division of TGH, is offering 13‑week seasonal assignments in the Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum unit. Candidates should have at least two years’ experience in the specific delivery setting and be able to work independently.
Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, deliver nursing care to patients. Plan and implement nursing care; document nursing assessments; identify and report situations requiring further intervention; formulate and communicate goal‑directed plans of care; ensure patient rights; and comply with Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
Assess and analyze the health status of patients in the assigned unit comprehensively. Perform and/or assure completed assessments on all patients admitted within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
Perform ongoing assessments and document per policy and procedure, reporting significant findings to the appropriate member of the healthcare team.
Initiate the discharge planning process with the initial admission assessment.
Plan patient care on the assigned unit in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
Formulate individualized patient plans of care based on assessment data, within the designated time delineated in policy/unit standards.
Update plans of care based on patient assessment within the appropriate time period.
Direct, implement, and coordinate patient care activities on the assigned unit to ensure the delivery of quality care.
Communicate the plan of care to other members of the healthcare team through daily worksheet conferences, verbally during the shift, and shift reports.
Direct care team members in accordance with their scope of practice.
Communicate and document all patient care, including assessments, plans of care, interventions, patient response, and follow‑up; transcribe and direct the implementation of physician orders; provide patient education based on assessed needs and evaluate understanding.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and document the effectiveness of planned and implemented interventions and strategies within time frames per policy/unit standards, including patients and families in the evaluation process.
Provide appropriate patient assessment and care specific to the needs of the patient populations served (e.g., age groups, patient size, diagnosis-based).
Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the specific physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients as appropriate to the populations served.
Know assessment techniques and diagnostic tools; conduct thorough assessments; interpret clinical data; apply critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
Know evidence‑based practices for care planning; skilled in developing, implementing, and modifying patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure effective coordination.
Understand patient education principles; provide clear, personalized education to patients and families and assess their comprehension to ensure understanding and compliance.
Know outcome measurement and quality improvement processes; evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly; contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.
Familiar with healthcare documentation standards and legal requirements; document patient care accurately and timely to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
Familiar with standard practices within the OBGYN setting.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing; requires an associate’s degree. Bachelor’s preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Florida RN license; BLS, ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), NIHSS certifications required.
Minimum 1 year’s experience in the specialty unit and deemed competent.
Minimum 2 years’ experience within the specific division being hired into (as stated in the job description).
