In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing how our software development teams utilize Jira (and other Atlassian Products) to achieve improved consistency, collaboration, and efficiency. We are seeking a pragmatic and experienced Business Analyst who can understand our organizational needs and guide us towards effective project configurations within Jira that empower teams while ensuring necessary enterprise alignment. We're not imposing rigid rules, but rather seeking to establish essential foundations for how teams use Jira.
This role is a hybrid, blending process analysis with hands-on Jira expertise. We need a Business Analyst who brings a diverse perspective, informed by experience in project management, scrum mastering, Jira administration, and potentially product management. You won't need to be an expert in every area, but we value individuals who can leverage a range of experiences to contribute practical ideas and effective solutions.
What You'll Do:
Business Needs Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of our current Jira usage across software development teams to understand needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement related to consistency and efficiency.
Requirements Gathering and Solution Design: Elicit requirements from stakeholders across project management, development, and product teams regarding their Jira needs and workflows. Design and propose common core project configurations within Jira that address these needs and promote enterprise alignment.
Process and Workflow Optimization: Analyze existing software development processes and identify areas where Jira can be better leveraged to streamline workflows, improve collaboration, and increase overall efficiency.
Translate Business Requirements to Jira Configurations: Translate documented business requirements and process improvements into detailed and effective Jira configurations, workflows, and automations.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, scrum masters, development teams, and product owners to ensure proposed Jira solutions are practical, meet their needs, and are effectively communicated and understood.
Guidance and Training: Develop and deliver guidance and training materials to support teams in effectively using Jira and adopting agreed-upon configurations. Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for best practices.
Performance Monitoring and Iteration: Monitor the impact of implemented Jira changes, gather user feedback, and continuously iterate on configurations to ensure ongoing effectiveness, user satisfaction, and alignment with business objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
Business Analysis Mindset: A strong analytical approach to understanding business problems and developing practical, process-oriented, and tool-based solutions.
Passion for Process Improvement: A genuine interest in optimizing software development processes and leveraging technology to enhance team performance.
Solid Jira Expertise: Practical experience in configuring and administering Jira, including workflows, project configurations, permissions, and automation. Ability to translate business requirements into Jira solutions.
Experience in Software Development Context: Understanding of software development lifecycles, methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.), and the challenges of managing software projects in a matrixed environment.
