
Lathe Operator

Responsibilities
Operate manual lathes with or without DRO to machine firearm components to tight tolerances
Work from blueprints, sketches, or sample parts to determine dimensions and machining operations
Perform threading, chambering, profiling, shortening, and facing
Use measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, indicators) to ensure exact tolerances
Perform basic maintenance on machinery and ensure shop cleanliness and safety
Collaborate closely with gunsmiths and management to meet project requirements
Qualifications
2+ years of experience operating a manual lathe in a precision machining or gunsmithing environment
Experience with threading barrels and barrel shortening
Strong understanding of firearms components and mechanical function preferred
Ability to hold tight tolerances (.001" or better) and work with a variety of metals (e.g., steel, stainless, aluminum)
Comfortable using measuring instruments and working from technical drawings
Ability to work independently and maintain focus on craftsmanship and quality
Time management is a must
Must be legally eligible to work with firearms and pass background screening as required by ATF regulations
Gunsmithing education or experience (formal or apprenticeship)
Familiarity with other manual shop equipment (mill, surface grinder, drill press, etc.)
Understanding of firearm design and functionality
