Title
Building Secretary - Woodworth (Dearborn Public Schools)
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Good personal appearance with avoidance of extremes in dress and actions.
Ability to pass grammar, spelling, math, office filing/sorting, proofreading, computer applications tests at 70% and a bookkeeping test at 70%.
Knowledge of electronic communication (e.g. e‑mail).
Orally proficient in Arabic preferred.
Responsibilities
Maintain cheerful and friendly telephone and face‑to‑face contact with the general public and students.
Keep informed regarding all school activities.
Provide accurate information to the general public and students regarding school services and related programs.
Refer individual inquiries to immediate supervisor for problem‑solving, proper information and/or services.
Maintain good judgment, confidentiality, dependability, honesty, and a professional attitude toward the whole organization.
Be a team player.
Make appointments for supervisor.
Perform and support all duties of lower classifications.
Ensure prompt and accurate performance of work where delays and errors would impair service to the public.
Supervise the operation and maintenance of all building office machines.
Provide assistance to administrative superiors in handling public contacts and complaints.
Maintain student records in MiStar.
Word process letters, bulletins, and reports.
Handle confidential matters related to technical budgeting items.
Assume responsibility for fund accounting.
Manage accounts for Title, Unit, building account purchases, SMART system, reconciliations (purchasing cards, bank statements, petty cash, purchase orders).
Provide bookkeeping and accounting functions as assigned.
Handle all school funds such as fees, petty cash, and activity funds.
Assist in the preparation of the budget.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Terms of Employment
10 months, DFSE Salary Schedule.
Classification
Building Secretary - Step 1: $18.58; Step 2: $19.49; Step 3: $20.42; Step 4: $21.32; Step 5: $22.24; Step 6: $23.16; Step 7: $24.06.
Evaluation
Annually.
