
Lead Inventory Accountant

Summary
This position is located at our corporate office in Raleigh, NC and reports to the Inventory Accounting Manager.
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Lead Inventory Accountant within our corporate inventory team with the ability to thrive in our fast paced, growing organization. This individual must be able to identify and resolve problems both independently and as a part of a team. Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization along with strong organizational and time management ability are also required.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of inventory accounting; standard costing, transfers/eliminations, account reconciliations, reserve calculations and physicals across multiple product lines
Serves as primary contact for field assistance and compliance; item processing, reporting, best practices and policy
Responsible for scoping, coordination and monitoring of inventory physicals; finished goods, work in process, raw materials, parts and supplies
Work within JD Edwards (JDE) ERP system to support inventory processing/setup, table maintenance, and general accounting activities
Prepare internal and external reporting and analysis for all inventory reporting, including dashboards
Conduct account analysis, including researching and explaining fluctuations
Analyze data for costing and determine the proper treatment across all product lines
Responsible for purchase accounting for acquired inventory
Evaluate and recommend new approaches and procedures that result in process improvements and efficiencies
Supervise shop staff accountant
Adhere to and maintain Company and SOX compliance, policies, and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred
7+ years of accounting experience or equivalent
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Detail‑oriented with a strong ability to self‑review and validate workpapers
Must be a self-researcher and a quick learner who can work independently and as a part of a team with minimal supervision
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge including pivot tables and vlookups
Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, to individuals at all levels of the organization
