Job Description
Primary Purpose:

Provide specialized instructional support to teachers and the program team within a tiered instructional framework. This involves delivering training, coaching, and conducting data analysis to inform student needs and monitor progress.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Special Education Teaching experience preferred

Bachelor's degree required

Master's degree preferred

Texas teaching certification required

Skills

Expertise in adapting general education curriculum for special education contexts

Experience providing job-embedded instructional coaching to teachers

Proficiency in modifying curriculum internalization protocols to address diverse learner needs

Strong data literacy skills, including the ability to analyze curriculum-based assessment and screening data

Proven ability to deliver content‑specific professional development as well as systemic best practice (e.g., campus‑wide/district‑wide) professional development

Proven ability to train and coach personnel in various school roles (e.g., teachers, support staff, principals, central office staff)

Must be service‑oriented and display initiative

Demonstrated ability to work within a team setting required

Demonstrated ability to contribute to team/organizational goals

Working Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing

Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving

Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)

Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Design, develop, and deliver professional learning experiences focused on adapting general education curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students receiving special education services.

Support the internalization of curriculum modules by modifying existing protocols (e.g., Bluebonnet) to help teachers anticipate misconceptions, identify scaffolds, and maintain instructional rigor.

Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching to special education teachers on implementing high-leverage instructional strategies, including explicit foundational skills instruction and the use of complex, grade-level texts with appropriate supports.

Collaborate with department teams to analyze student performance and screening data, to identify trends and set measurable instructional goals.

Lead data-driven planning sessions that support differentiated instruction and improve instructional alignment with core academic standards.

Guide special education teams in accurately and efficiently submitting and interpreting assessment data for instructional planning and program improvement.

Design and facilitate targeted professional development on assessment literacy, instructional strategies, data analysis, and curriculum implementation for special education staff.

Develop tools, guides, and instructional resources that support differentiated instruction and equitable access to rigorous curriculum for students with disabilities.

Collaborate with Strategic Integration Liaisons to align instructional supports with findings from MTSS diagnostics, especially regarding Tier 1 instruction.

Serve as a key partner in advancing inclusive practices across tiers by ensuring that curriculum implementation strategies promote access and equity for all learners.

Support system-wide efforts to strengthen instructional coherence between general and special education programs.

Facilitate collaborative planning between general education curriculum teams and special education staff to ensure shared understanding and coordinated instructional practices.

Partner with families to foster data-informed discussions that support student progress and reinforce home-school connections.

Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote alignment, transparency, and shared ownership of inclusive instructional practices.

Serves as an active, contributing member of the MTSS Task Force

Identify, adapt, and create high-quality instructional materials and planning tools that support differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.

Research, pilot, and disseminate evidence-based strategies that promote effective curriculum adaptation and inclusive delivery models.

Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning

Clearly articulates the work plan while adhering to all departmental protocols for work-from-home and hybrid work arrangements, as applicable.

Creates ongoing collegial relationships with customers

Travels as a part of job responsibilities.

Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly.

Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.

Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.

Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.

Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.

Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.

Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures.

Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.

Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by the supervisor.

Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned.
