Process Operator, Billings Refinery

Location: Billings, MT, US, 59101 Job Field: Operations Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future What To Expect: The Process Operator, Billings Refinery will work independently and with other personnel to maintain and operate equipment and processes in the refinery. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include: outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In addition, Operators perform various duties required to keep their assigned processing unit/area operating safely and at specified production/run rates.
What You'll Do: Demonstrating awareness and commitment to safety Maintaining equipment and operations Taking samples/readings of various process streams Operating unit consoles Monitoring and observing assigned area for abnormal conditions and emergency situations Working with outside contractors and agencies Participating in safety reviews Following safety processes and procedures Initiating work orders and permitting for work related to the assigned unit Maintaining proper and safe process operations of the operating equipment Serving on the emergency response fire brigade, rescue team, and/or first responder team Completing assigned training Participating in training refreshers Upholding company values, understanding and implementing all relevant company policies and procedures to ensure all work meets the required standards
What You'll Bring

Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions 18 years of age or older High School Diploma or GED equivalent Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Work a rotating shift schedule, including but not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays Work overtime Read technical procedures and materials in English Learn computer software associated with process operations Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos Work near large, hot, high speed machines Work around chemicals, including acids and bases Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment including but not limited to items such as protective toe footwear, ear and eye protection, head protection, hand protection, and fall protection. Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven) Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat Climb up to 250 feet in height Lift up to 50 pounds Perform firefighting duties Work outside in harsh weather conditions
What Makes You Stand Out

Preferred: Associate's degree or higher in Process Technology 1 or more year(s) of direct work experience in manufacturing, heavy industry (including oil & gas), public safety, and/or military
Compensation The hourly rate during the initial training period while on 8 hr day schedule is $42.03/hour and this moves to $41.07/hour when on the 12 hr rotating shift schedule with built in overtime. Employees may advance within the Operator pay progression based on the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. As an example of potential advancement, the adjusted pay rate for the outside controlman classification is $50.26 per hour.
