Legal Assistant (Payoff Release) Company:

Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to research and respond to taxpayer inquiries, identify and investigate issues, and draft related documents.
️ Essential Functions
Prepare, proofread, and forward various judgment payoffs (e.g., standard, deficiency, strike-off, private resale, bankruptcy).
Draft and process various releases of judgment (e.g., standard, partial, sold/resale, clouding title on homesteaded properties).
Handle phone calls and emails related to payoffs and releases; assist with the Post Judgment mail line.
Research and prepare Releases of Judgment from the JP list (twice annually).
Create payment plans as requested by taxpayers.
Process check copies resulting from payoffs and prepare corresponding releases.
Assist walk-in customers as needed.
Review files for sale, time permitting.
Perform other duties as assigned by management or attorneys, including customer service, client reporting, and departmental administrative tasks.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Frequent sitting, talking, and hearing.
Occasional walking, handling objects/tools, and reaching.
Must occasionally lift/move 1020 pounds.
Requires specific vision abilities for focus adjustment.
Non-Essential Functions
Duties performed infrequently or that could be delegated without affecting the core purpose of the role.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Typing speed of 50 WPM
Strong organizational and proofreading skills
Energetic and team-oriented
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
Detail-oriented with high-volume document handling capability
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Professional demeanor, punctuality, and reliable attendance
Strong written and verbal communication
Research and problem-solving skills
Ability to process legal documents with minimal errors
Comfort working with numbers
Supervisory Responsibilities & Independent Discretion
This position does not currently include supervisory duties or independent decision-making responsibilities.
Special Requirements
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Familiarity with Oracle systems is a plus
Experience in real estate, property tax, or foreclosure practices is beneficial
Customer service experience preferred
High School Diploma required; some college or legal/office experience is a plus
