Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a specialized ESY Program running for six weeks this summer. Located close to vibrant New York, NY, this position focuses on providing physical therapy services to a group of five nonverbal students, each requiring a 30-minute PT session once per week per their individual mandate. Your expertise will empower students to maximize their physical potential, adapt to school routines, and participate more fully in learning experiences. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse communication needs and adapting approaches to foster progress in each unique learner. What you bring: Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist Experience in school-based or pediatric PT settings (ESY program expertise a plus) Comfort and adaptability working with nonverbal students Familiarity with IEP goals and service delivery in educational environments Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families Compassion, patience, and creativity in therapeutic approach Primary responsibilities include: Delivering individualized PT sessions (1x30 min weekly per student) in line with IEP requirements Adapting sessions to engage and support nonverbal students Collaborating with classroom staff and related service providers to promote student goals Maintaining thorough, timely documentation of progress and session attendance Communicating effectively with families and the educational team regarding progress and needs Creating a supportive, positive environment for students throughout the ESY session Make a meaningful impact this summer by supporting students’ growth, mobility, and access to their educational world.
