Responsibilities
Design, build, test and deploy CAPPS queries/reports out of tables using a graphical interface.
Create complex CAPPS queries that include joined tables, criteria and prompts.
Edit existing CAPPS statewide queries to produce data relevant to TCEQ business needs.
Analyze and provide technical support to program areas in conjunction with CAPPS queries.
Collaborate with the program area for validation of accuracy on CAPPS queries that are created.
Work with the program areas to understand their reporting and analytical needs and translate them into reports.
Create reports in CAPPS SAP Business Objects (BOBJ).
Create dashboards in Power BI.
Edit existing statewide BOBJ reports to produce data relevant to TCEQ business needs.
Work with the program areas to create BOBJ reports that will help with reconciliation and business processes.
Monitor and optimize the performance of queries/reports in CAPPS/BOBJ.
Develop training materials for educating CAPPS Query Manager users.
Create desk aids related to CAPPS queries for the program areas to use.
Deliver quarterly and one-on-one training, as needed, on how to create CAPPS queries.
Design training materials to educate BOBJ users on the system.
Create desk aids related to BOBJ reports for the program areas to use.
Deliver quarterly and one-on-one training, as needed, on how to create BOBJ reports.
Provide backup to the CAPPS Security Coordinator.
Complete other duties or projects as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Experience using the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel Systems (CAPPS) Financials.
Experience designing, building and testing SQL queries outside of CAPPS.
Required Education & Experience
Five years of full-time experience in data analysis, data research, data compilation; and/or reporting work.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, computer science, environmental science, mathematics, statistics or a related field; plus three years of the required experience.
OR
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; plus four years of the required experience.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Fiscal Control Division.
