General Description
In alignment with the NWRESD mission, this position supports student communication skill development essential for academic and social success. Under the direction of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA implements individualized speech and language programs and services for students with a broad range of communication disorders, ensuring delivery within the supervising SLP’s guidance and the scope of practice defined for the SLPA license.
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Associate’s degree from an SLPA program or completion of college‑level coursework meeting state licensure requirements.
Experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting.
Current SLPA licensure through the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology.
Valid driver’s license; available transportation and proof of auto insurance.

Professional and effective human relations skills.
Regular communication with the immediate supervisor.
Proficiency in computer and internet‑based applications (email, internet software, Google Suite, MS Word).

Essential Functions
Provide direct treatment assistance to students as directed by the supervising SLP.
Follow documented therapy plans and instructional strategies developed by the SLP that are appropriate to the age and learning needs of individual students, selected through an evidence‑based decision‑making process in accordance with IEP/IFSP documentation.
Demonstrate awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity regarding language acquisition with linguistically and/or culturally diverse populations.
Implement a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment, including pull‑out and in‑class supports.
Address social, academic, and vocational needs that impact attainment of educational goals.
Support the use and maintenance of AAC devices and technology.
Support scheduling and maintain appropriate records and data (including Medicaid billing, if applicable).
Assist with screening procedures to identify students with potential speech‑language needs, including hearing screenings.
Provide direct intervention assistance to students as identified by the supervising SLP, following IEP or protocols, excluding feeding/swallowing duties.
Document student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in the IFSP/IEP and report such information to the supervising SLP, reviewing and summarizing performance at session end.
Assist the SLP with informal documentation during interventions (collecting and tallying data as directed), prepare materials, and perform clerical duties as specified.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
